My name is Jill Mennella, and I’m pleased to welcome you to my website at freeformfit.com. Fitness is my passion and so is helping people! I believe fitness is a key to freedom… freedom to feel confident, and freedom to live your best life! I have worked as a personal trainer since 2005, yet I base much of my training, nutrition, and lifestyle coaching on my own life’s journey. I train women and men of all ages in New York and Conneticut. I train people when and where it’s convenient, simple, and comfortable for them– in their home, office, outdoors or in a convenient gym. I believe in a unique and personalized approach to training… what I call “freeform training or fitness.” For details on what freeform fitness is about, please click here.
Starting in college, I struggled with my own weight and, ultimately, bulimia. Although I eventually overcame my eating disorder through therapy, I still struggled to maintain a comfortable size and healthy lifestyle. When I later became an actress living in New York, my unhealthy lifestyle soon caught up to me. One day, a producer asked that I lose weight in order to keep my job on a TV show. I felt helpless, and knew I could not do it on my own. Although I doubted I could ever reach a point where I would actually like my body, I decided to hire a personal trainer. That single decision changed my life.
Besides exercising with me, my trainer educated me on how to turn my body into a fat-burning machine through the most effective exercises and nutrition. Where I worried I might feel deprived, I felt invigorated! In less than a year, I transformed myself from an out-of-shape woman wearing a size 10 into to a toned woman wearing a size 0. I reduced my body fat from 33% to 15% and without much effort, I have been able to maintain a healthy weight for the last 9 years and counting.
Although l was thrilled with my body transformation, the true gift that I received from my training experience was an amazing feeling of freedom and control over my life! This inspired me to become a personal trainer and start Freeform Fitness, so that I could help others do the same.
I don’t believe that you need to be a certain size to feel good about yourself. At 5’2 , with a small frame and little muscle mass, a size 10 was not comfortable for me but it may be just the right size for some. I believe it’s about being comfortable in your own skin and feeling healthy.
I am a NASM Certified Personal Trainer and an IFA Certified Sports Nutritionist. I offer a complimentary fitness assessment to everyone so please call me to set one up today at 917.575.4154 or email me at newfreedomfitness@gmail.com. I look forward to hearing from you!
